The Vale Royal Barn was built in the 1830's by one of Fenton's earliest pioneers, Frederick F. Riggs who came here from New York State and settled on 180 acres in 1836.  He leased a six rod square on the corner of his land for a school which was named after him. The original school burned down but the second school still stands today! In 1868, Mr. Riggs sold the farm and since then the property changed ownership three more times until Frank Boulton purchased the farm in 1929.  It was Frank Boulton who named it, "The Vale Royal Farm". (Vale Royal is a borough in the historic county of Cheshire, England where his great- grandfather is said to have worked as a coachman for royalty.) In 2014, after discovering the barn was no longer being used, we approached the Boulton family and asked if we could save their barn. They agreed and graciously donated the barn to us, as they had recently been looking into having it demolished!  Aside from saving one beam to use over his fireplace for a mantel, the current owner (Kent Boulton) allowed us to salvage as much of the barn as we could.  Now, this gem of a barn and all it's hand hewn beams have been restored on our park-like property and will provide the ultimate country party space!
